Abpit 36,000 11mm Model 1874 oofficer's revolvers were manufactured between 1874 and 1886. They were used by the French Army and Navy through WWII. They are based on the Chanelot-Delvigne patent wirh their solid frame, fixed cylinder, and rod ejection. The fluted cylinder is the major difference between the Model 1874 and earlier Model 1873 which was produced in far greater numbers. The 4.7"" octagon to round barrel on this example has a fine bore with strong rifling. The gun has approx. 94% military blue overal with the grip straps fadingl and the hammer, trigger, loading gate, and other small parts retain their bright finish. The top of the barrelis marked Mle 1874 with the right side being marked S. 1877. There are several other proof and inspection stamps on the gun. The right side of the frame above the front of the trigger guard is marked Mre d'Armes over St Etienne.The matching serial number is found on multiple external and internal parts. The wood checkered grips are fine with light wear. The action functions correctly. This much better than average Model 1874 is ready for the finest French or European military revolver collection.
