Bore is dull with oxidation noted in the worn grooves. Brown checkered grips are worn with some wood loss noted left side bottom. Captain Gerald Tassel Neame of the 7th Battalion would go over the top on July 1st 1916 and would be struck down and killed at the age of 31 in what would be known as the ""Battle of the Somme"". Captain Neame was in the process of filling in a gap with two platoons from D company between the 55th and 53rd Brigades. It was during this advance at approximately 12:30pm was he was killed.
