Scarce SWISS Military Bern Model 1878 SCHMIDT-RUBIN Type Revolver w/HOLSTER First SWISS MADE Revolver used by the SWISS ARMY
Description: Scarce SWISS Military Bern Model 1878 SCHMIDT-RUBIN Type Revolver w/HOLSTER First SWISS MADE Revolver used by the SWISS ARMY Here we present a C&R Swiss Model 1878 Schmidt-Galand Type Ordnance Revolver, one of only 6,000 made circa the late 1870s by Waffenfabrik Bern in Bern, Switzerland. The first modern Swiss Army revolver was the Model 1872 double action revolver similar to the French MAS 1873 Chamelot-Delvigne revolver and was chambered in a 10.4mm rimfire cartridge. In 1878, the Swiss came up with a new 10.4mm centerfire cartridge, and introduced it in the Model 1878 revolver, which was the first Swiss made revolver used by the Swiss Army. About 6,000 were made by Waffenfabrik Bern, and so marked on the left side of the frame. This Schmidt-Galand type revolver is chambered for the 10.4mm centerfire cartridge. The frame is solid with a fixed cylinder and hand operated rod ejection. The revolver has checkered composition grips, with the Swiss cross on the left grip. Swiss cavalry units were issued the Model 1878 revolver. These are rarely seen today. The overall condition is good. This example has been refinished. Excellent action. Bright, rifled bore. Markings are legible. Both grips are in good shape with only an average amount of handling wear. Good leather holster. If you love Swiss craftsmanship, then you will love this revolver. It would be a very fitting companion to a Schmidt-Rubin rifle. Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction. Barrel is 5-7/8 inches. Caliber: 10.4mm Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING WORLDWIDE. Delivered directly to your door by express mail! Guaranteed AUTHENTIC & Includes CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY. ancestryguns $1350 #233335 SOLD Antique: Yes |
