Description:
Gently used Smith & Wesson Victory 38 S&W Special Revolver. The revolver shows little wear and tear. No cracks, or chips. Slight pitting on barrel right side and on frame above triggerl. The finish is clean, the rifling deep and bore is bright al the way through. The cylinder spins smoothly and locks up tight! This revolver is matching serial numbers of cylinder and grip serial #V491327 Crane and frame both factory designators 46520. Mint bore. Made from 1942 to 1944. All had a V prefix. There were a little over a half million made. They were standard issued side arms for US Navy and Marine air crews due to their size and ease of operation. Their use extended into the Vietnam era.
Excellent bore. The revolver retains about 95% original Parko-Lubrite finish, the barrel muzzle showing slight thinning, edge wear and handling marks. The service trigger, service hammer and lanyard loop retain bold case-hardened colors. The smooth walnut factory grips are numbered to the gun and rate about very good plus with scattered handling marks. All the appropriate parts are correctly numbered to the gun, it functions completely mechanically, there is a "P" proof mark on the upper left frame and the left side of the topstrap is marked "[ordnance bomb] U.S. PROPERTY, G.H.D.". (Guy H. Drewry inspector) importer placed their mark on the inside bottom of the frame's window and is hidden by the cylinder when it is in battery. An excellent Lend-Lease gun for the military collector.
