US Model 1861 Springfield 58 caliber civil war musket dated 1862


Description:
The US Model 1861 Springfield 58 caliber musket was the favorite Union arm favored for it range accuracy and reliability.  This one is still in its original condition with a 40 inch rifled 58 caliber bore.  The functioning lock is marked US Springfield, dated 1862 with the American eagle.  The 40 inch barrel is dated 1862 with VP and eagle head. The dark walnut stuck is stamped 72 a rack or regimental marking with numerous dents dings and shows normal wear.  All metal parts are a grey brown mix with scattered pitting.  This old musket is in good antique functioning condition and complete with sling swivels and ramrod.  A good representative civil war rifle.  The bore shows good rifling but needs cleaning.  Please feel free to contact me with any questions.
