BRACE OF FACTORY ENGRAVED AND INSCRIBED MANHATTAN NAVY REVOLVERS
Description: Pair of Factory Engraved and Inscribed Manhattan Navy Civil War Series III Revolvers. The revolvers are 13 numbers apart. 42796 and 42809. Factory Ivory grips. Both are identically inscribed "To G.W. France A.A.Surg. USA From Attendants of US Gen. Hospital No.11". Both Revolvers have some blue on barrels and some faded Casecolor on frames. Very sharp revolvers. Known in the Manhattan world as two of the best engraved and inscribed known. Very rare for a person to be given a brace of guns during the war. The presenters had to think real special of you. Mechanically fine. They were featured on the Front Cover of the March 2001 Gun Reort. Also featured in Norm Flayderman's last gun digest, 9th Edition, color section in the middle. These were in Norm's collection until he sold them in the middle 90's for a lot more than I need now. France served as Surgeon at the hospital in Nashville during the war and then went west after the war still as Surgeon in US Army. Have paperwork on him. This pair of revolvers would be the centerpiece of any Civil War Medical Collection! Please call 973-214-3407 with any questions. Antique: Yes Price: $25,000.00 Contact Seller |
