Most Lefaucheaux 12mm pinfire revolvers were made in Belgium. This revolver was made in France by Casimir Lefaucheaux. The overall length is approx. 11.5"". The 6 3/8"" round barrel has a fine bore with frosting in the grooves. All the metal finish is bright with very light brown spotting. The right side of the frame has a small symbol over LF (Lefaucheaux) followed by the serial number, 8589. The left side of the frame is marked No 5954 which is most likely an inventory number. There are no other markings. THe grips are fine no chips or cracks, little wear, and significant original finish. The lanyard ring is present. The single action functions correctly. The US government purchased 12,374 Lefaucheaux revolvers during the Civil War.
