Revolver is from descendants of Lt. John C. Durgin who served in the Wisconsin 22nd Infantry and may have used this revolver during the Civil War. Revolver is complete, original, locks up tight, functions as it should, has a cartouche somewhat visible on the left walnut grip, bore is clean and bright, retains much of its original blue as shown, mixing with browning oxidation much of which can be removed or improved with a proper cleaning. Gun needs a good oiling and scrubbing. This revolver may be in the transition range, SN 19405. Barrel Markings 'Pat Sept 14 1858 E Remington & Sons Illion NY'. USA
We also have his "Commission is issued to Lt. John C. Durgin who served in the Wisconsin 22nd Infantry. Issued by the Military Order of the Loyal Legion of the United States, its first class of 1883 in Illinois" which is being offered in a different venue.
