UNCONVERTED Percussion Five Shot Revolver!
Here we present an antique Remington New Model Police Revolver in .36 Caliber, made circa 1870 in Ilion, New York, with a production run between 1865 to 1873. This nice example was manufactured by Remington & Sons in the late 1860s to early 1870s with an estimated total of 18,000 manufactured.
These revolvers were scaled down versions of the Remington Belt and Navy Models. Most of the New Model Police Revolvers were either manufactured to chamber metallic cartridges or factory altered for cartridges. Original percussion New Model Police like this example is very scarce. The top of the barrel is roll-stamped “PATENTED SEPT. 14, 1858/REMINGTON & SONS, ILION NEW YOUR U.S.A./NEW MODEL” in three lines.
The overall condition is very good. Strong action. Original finish/patina. The bore is in nice shape for its age and features strong rifling. Both grips are in good shape with nicer grain structure. Sharp markings. The left side of the frame is cracked around the loading lever—it is interesting to ponder just how this might have happened. The loading lever remains functional despite the flaw.

Barrel is 4-1/2 inches.
