Antique Remington Navy Factory Conversion. 38 Long Colt Center Fire. Mint Bore and Chambers. Crisp and tight As New.
Description: SOLD. Antique Remington Navy Factory conversion to .38 Long Colt Center Fire. Here is a nice and crisp Remington Navy factory conversion to .38 Long Colt center fire. Has the standard 7 3/8” barrel. These Navy conversions are the very high quality conversions made with the loading gate and ejector housing and rod. Unlike many of the most common found Army conversions that range from good quality to very poor “gun smith” or “ black smith” conversions.. Very few of these high quality Navy conversions are found for sale as a very limited number of them were manufactured. My conversion book by the late Bruce McDowell says less than 1,000.. Even though this gun has no finish it is an extremely crisp and tight example. The mechanics are excellent.. Crisp and tight as a new gun.. NO cylinder movement at all at lock up or with the hammer down in the fired position. It indexes perfectly with a positive half cock position for loading and unloading. Very crisp and as new action.. The bore is minty bright and shiny.. No rings or bulges. The chambers are mint bright and shiny also. The loading gate is all intact and functions perfectly. The ejector rod is factory and intact and functions perfectly also. Nothing has been broken and homemade as is often found. The metal over all has been cleaned and is a soft gray with no pitting.. The front sight has been narrowed a bit for a better sighting picture. It is very precise when sighting down the barrel and sights better than the wider front sights do by far.. It is still the original front sight. Of course these sights are threaded in the barrel so if you desire to change it would be an easy job. The grips are in very good condition with some original varnish still remaining.. No cracks but one tiny chip on the upper right side at the frame.. Shows some edge and corner wear but very nice grips. The screw heads are sharp and crisp and not burred up from tinkering. The barrel address is weak from wear and cleaning but these addresses on these Remington's are most always found weak from a tipped die stamp so nothing out of the ordinary. These factory Navy conversions are quite rare and I have had but 4 or 5 for sale in well over 30 years of collecting and dealing. These are very high quality as I mentioned and leaps and bounds above the quality of most of the Army conversion models commonly found on the market today.. Call 765-728-8049 with any questions or more photos. $35 insured USPS shipping. SOLD Antique: Yes |
