Desirable Antique Remington Model 1890 Revolver with Original Hard Rubber Grips 44-40

Description:
Serial #930, .44-40, 5 3/4" barrel with a good, lightly pitted bore. This is a handsome revolver, one of 844 made in 1892, that retains 60-70% of the original flaked nickel finish with speckled, dark freckling on the balance of the mottled gray-brown metal and scattered areas of pinprick pitting, most noticeably at the muzzle and along the front face of the cylinder. A few tool marks are present throughout, most noticeably some chatter marks along the left side of the barrel breech. The caliber marking on the frame and Remington rollmark on the barrel are both crisp and clear. The original hard rubber grips have worn from use to a chocolate brown color over time. There are no cracks or chips, and even the internal "ears" at the top of the grips are still intact. The lock-up is still tight, and the action functions flawlessly. These are rare revolvers that were not made in great numbers (only about 2,020 in two barrel lengths), with some nickel guns purchased by the US Government for use by Indian Police on the reservations. This example is in very good plus condition, and would make a great addition to any collection of "Wild West" guns and memorabilia. Antique;
