Description:
We are offering for sale an antique Remington Model 1890 6-shot revolver chambered in .44-40 caliber. Just over 2,000 of these guns were produced between 1891-1896. This gun is serial numbered 137 and was manufactured in 1892. The gun remains in good overall condition.
5 ¾” barrel is good with a greyed patina; Left side of the barrel is marked “44 W”. The bore is good to very good with minimal surface wear, very good rifling. This could be a shooter! “Remington Arms Co. Illion NY” on top of the barrel. The frame shows wear; Grey patina with some light traces of bluing. Blued trigger guard is good with wear. The loading port door does not fit perfectly snug and may be a later replacement. The cylinder remains good with nice patina, turn line; Cylinder has slight wiggle. The gun has a minor issue where the hammer does not always advance the cylinder and only cocks halfway; Other times the hammer cocks and the cylinder turns perfectly. Gun has been fitted with handsome bone grip plates in very good vintage condition.
