Remington NewModel Police Conversion Revolver - Cal. .38 RF - 4 1/2" Bbl. - 5 shot - SN 50XX(1870s). Cylinder bears 14XX serial indicating that this is likely a Remington percussion factory conversion to cartridge, rather than originally manufactured as a cartridge revolver. Excellent bore with only a few spots of minor roughness - bright with sharp rifling. Excellent action with perfect timing and lock-up. Excellent metal with sharp edges and markings and no rust, pits or corrosion - a few minor dings appear on the left side of the barrel. Retains 95% + original factory nickel - walnut grips are undamaged, show a few marks from normal handling and retain abput 90% original finish. The New Model Police was a scaled down version of the Remington Navy and Belt models and was designed to compete with the Colt 1862 Police - about 18,000 were produced. An exceptionally nice early Remington conversion in Excellent ++ condition - a very popular sidearm in the early West. A nice addition to an old West or Remington collection !
