Description:
Beautiful, early, factory engraved Remington Smoot 1st Model revolver with spur trigger and bird's head grip, SN: 377 under left grip, produced between 1875 and 1877, approximately 3,000 manufactured, in .30 RF with 2-13/16 inch ribbed octagonal barrel and nickel-plated finish over extensive factory scroll engraving to include barrel, cylinder, and frame. Color case hardened hammer/trigger. Smooth mother of pearl grips, each secured with a single retaining screw. Simple fixed halfmoon front sight and groove rear sight with the top of the barrel marked "E. REMINGTON & SONS. ILION, N.Y.PAT. W.S. SMOOT OCT. 21, 1873" patent reference. The Remington-Smoot revolver was patented by William S. Smoot in 1873 and represented Remington's entry into the metallic cartridge revolver market during the mid-1870s. ANTIQUE!!!

Faded color case hardening on hammer and trigger. Near excellent mother of pearl grips, with light surface marks but no chips, escutcheons easily removed. Bright bore. Correct manual mechanics.
