Ruger Old Model Blackhawk Single Action Revolver in .45 Colt/.45 Auto **Mfg 1972 - Unconverted 3 Screw - 2 Cylinders**
Description: Here we have a highly desirable and collectable Ruger 3 screw Blackhawk chambered in .45 Colt/.45 Auto caliber. This fine Blackhawk was made in Southport, CT in 1972. If you have ever cocked a 3 screw Blackhawk with the distinctive 4 clicks then you know how special they are and why they are so desirable to collectors. Blackhawks were made this way until 1973 when the inner workings were changed. In order to load a 3 screw Blackhawk the hammer must be pulled back to the half cocked position and then the cylinder can be turned freely. The new model Blackhawk can be loaded just by opening the loading gate and then the cylinder can be turned freely. Ruger offered a conversion for old model 3 screw Blackhawks but those converted guns are not nearly as collectable as this example. This gun has very little wear except for some spots on the ejector rod housing, excellent bluing and the grip panels with medallions are free of any chips or cracks. It has very light turn rings, only a hint of high edge wear and a few spots on the butt of the frame. The 7 1/2 inch barrel has a minty bore. Sights are a ramped front and adjustable rear. No box. This fine Ruger would make an outstanding addition to an existing collection or an excellent way to start a new collection. The .45 Colt version of the old model Blackhawk is the scarcest as it was only produced for about 2 years. This gun is truely a classic. Ruger letter and .45 Auto cylinder are included.
