This Ruger Vaquero is an excellent choice for revolver enthusiasts, especially those chasing a high-performing shooter in a larger bore! The Ruger Vaquero action is essentially a copy or direct competitor to the Colt Single-Action Army—a true Western icon. True to Ruger's reputation, the Vaquero is built to modern standards and capable of handling fairly powerful loads—loads that would surely do significant damage to older frames! This Vaquero is a special Bisley grip version with a grip styled after specially-modified Colt Single-Actions for use in shooting competitions in England. The Bisley revolvers have a more vertical grip which points better and more comfortably with one-handed shooting, as well as allowing shooters to place their hand higher on the gun. This improved hand placement helps to get shooters back on target after firing as well as making the lowered and widened hammer easier to cock each time. The triggers on Bisley models also are more curved and widened—all elements ideal for shooting tight groups on target. This revolver has a color case-hardened frame with blued barrel and grip. The finish has noticable wear on the edges, top, and side where gold/brass-colored metal has become exposed. The cylinder is fluted with good bluing on it, though drag lines are visible. The bore is in excellent condition and the timing is very good on this revolver. There are, however, some very small nicks on the edge of the crown, likely just from firing the gun. This Vaquero is chambered in the powerful .44 Remington Magnum has a well-balanced 5 ½" barrel with groove rear sight and fixed rounded Patridge front blade sight. The grips are made of walnut with an oil finish and silver & black medallions.
