.22/32 HAND EJECTOR, 6" .22 LONG RIFLE REVOLVER, #444XXX, MADE 1923-1927
Description: .22/32 HAND EJECTOR, 6" TARGET .22 LONG RIFLE REVOLVER, #444XXX. This was S&Ws first .22 LR target revolver (not counting a few 6" Ladysmiths). they were made from 1911 - 1941. By the serial number and features of this example, it was made between 1923-1927. This was a time of wonderful, old world hand -fitted craftsmanship that pretty well ended with World War II. This is a nice example that retains fine blue overall with some minor flaking around one flute of the cylinder and a very small area on the left side of the barrel- blends well and you have to look for it. Retains some light case color on the hammer and trigger, exc. markings, tight action and bright excellent bore. Adjustable target sights and factory target walnut stocks- one can tell if a S&W was factory fitted with oversize target stocks because the frame serial number is placed on the front strap instead of hidden under the grips on the butt. The bottom edge of the right panel has a fairly shallow chip that is old and worn in. the checkering is sharp and crisp on both panels. A class act from nearly a hundred years ago.
