WILD WEST Antique SMITH & WESSON No. 2 “Old Army” .32 RF DEAD MAN’S HAND
Made After the Civil War Era Circa the late 1860s
Description: WILD WEST Antique SMITH & WESSON No. 2 “Old Army” .32 RF DEAD MAN’S HAND Made After the Civil War Era Circa the late 1860s Here we present an antique Smith & Wesson Model No. 2 “Old Army” Revolver, made circa the late 1860s to early 1870s in Springfield, Massachusetts. Smith & Wesson’s acquisition of the Rollin White patent for the bored-through cylinder revolutionized revolver design. Starting in 1857, they made the popular Number 1, a 7-shot .22 pocket pistol. Recognizing its potential, they soon scaled up to the Number 2 “Army” Revolver—a six-shot, .32 caliber gun shipped just two months after the Civil War began. Notable users included future President Rutherford B. Hayes, who started as a Lieutenant Colonel and ended as a Brevet Brigadier General, praised by Ulysses S. Grant for his gallantry. Civil War legend General George Armstrong Custer also owned a pair, and “Wild Bill” Hickok wore one the night he was shot—his last hand, the “Dead Man’s Hand,” of Black Aces and 8s. Despite not being the most iconic of revolvers from S&W, it has found its way into popular culture and demands appreciation from younger history lovers. “Resident Evil 4” was first released in 2005 for the Nintendo GameCube. Since then, you’d be hard pressed to find a console that it has not been remade or ported over to. And you betcha, the S&W No. 2 makes a showing in almost every version on the Merchant’s shooting range door! The overall condition is fine. Much original blue has been preserved. Excellent action. The bore is shiny bright with sharp rifling. Both grips show minimal signs of handling and remain seated firmly. Markings are legible. Solid hinge. Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction. Barrel is 6 inches. Caliber: .32 Rimfire Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING WORLDWIDE. Delivered directly to your door by express mail!
