ENGRAVED, MOTHER of PEARL Antique SMITH & WESSON .38 S&W TOP BREAK Revolver SONGBIRD Motif w PEARL GRIPS!
Description: ENGRAVED, MOTHER of PEARL Antique SMITH & WESSON .38 S&W TOP BREAK Revolver
SONGBIRD Motif w PEARL GRIPS!
Here we present an antique Smith & Wesson .38 S&W Double Action Top Break Revolver, made circa 1880 in Springfield, Massachusetts with a total of 115,000 manufactured. This example has an attractive period floral and dot motif. It features engravings that were more commonly found on Merwin, Hulbert & Co. revolvers but rarely seen on 19th century Smith & Wesson revolvers. The floral blossoms would have likely originally had colored accented centers. The side plate has a songbird sitting on a tree branch. Matching serial numbers are on the butt, cylinder, barrel latch and barrel.
The overall condition is very good. Original nickel, case colors, and blue accents. The action is strong and tight all the way around! The bore has dimmed but remains in good shape. Both grips are vibrant with no noticeable handling wear. The floral and dot motifs remain sharp and well defined! Here is a great example of a revolver that would have been carried in the years prior to the turn of the century!
Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction.
Barrel is 3-1/4 inches.
Caliber: .38 S&W
Overall condition as seen in photos.
