Antique Nimschke Engraved Smith & Wesson 1 1/2 Old Model or First Model.32 Rim Fire Excellent Pearl grips. Very Sharp Looking Gun.
Description:
UP DATE .. New close up photos of the engraving.. Had someone try to tell me this is not a deep relief cut and punch dot back ground. He said it had a zig zag and scratched back ground. Well here it is buddy.. !!!! Antique Engraved Smith & Wesson 1 ½ First Model or sometimes called Old Model caliber is .32 Rim Fire and standard 3 1/2" barrel.... This is a beautiful either Nimschke or New York dealer period engraved. I personaly believe it is the Nimschke engraving by him or by one of his very close asociates. The Smith & Wesson book that I have written by Jim Supica and Richard Nahas has the exact same pattern pictured on page 39. It also has the most beautiful set of pearl grips with no cracks or chips. This gun was either nickel plated or silver plated as there is some finish on the grip frame under the grips. No finish remains now.. The engraving however is still very sharp. This gun was used and not just put away for safe keeping. Most engraved guns you see have a lot if not all their finish and were really never used.. The barrel address is very light and hard to read and photograph from wear but you can still make some of it out. The action locks up with just a little cylinder side roll but not bad at all.. Much tighter than most of this model you will find. No cylinder front to rear movement and very little cylinder side wobble on the arbor pin. Rock solid barrel to frame fit at the hinge and latch.. Not loose as most you will find in these tip up models. A very fine looking ole Smith & Wesson for the collector of these pocket or engraves guns. S/N 7626 and has matching assembly numbers on the face of the cylinder and rear of barrel. Priced very reasonable because it is a no finish gun but still a very nice Nimschke engraved gun.. Would be worth a factory letter but it would probably just say the engraveing and pearl grips were added after it left the factory as Nimschke had his own shop and did not work out of the factory... Either way it is a super nice looking gun and well worth the price.. $35 insured priority mail shipping.. Call 765-728-8049 for more photos or any questions.
