EARLY ANTIQUE S&W .32 DOUBLE ACTION 4TH MODEL, MOTTLED RED GRIPS, #65XXX, MADE 1880s
Description: VERY EARLY ANTIQUE S&W .32 DOUBLE ACTION 4TH MODEL, MOTTLED RED GRIPS, #65XXX, MADE 1880s. This is a very fine condition 3” barrel with blue finish top break revolver. This model was made from 1883-1909 with serial numbers from 43406-282000. Those numbers before 209301 were made before 1899 and are “antiques.” By the low number on this one I would estimate a production date or 1885 give or take a year. It is fitted with the desirable and scarce S&W monogramed mottled red hard rubber grips which are in excellent condition. Fine barrel and frame blue with normal thinning/dulling from age and light handling. The cylinder blue is good but shows light thinning/mixing gray-brown. Grip straps and trigger guard show fine blue and still shows some good case color on the hammer and trigger. Round blade pinned front sight is unaltered, exc. markings, tight action, exc. mech, exc. screw heads, and bright exc. bore Matching numbers on the frame, cylinder, latch and barrel. These were beautifully fit and finished little pocket revolvers most of which seem to be nickel with black rubber grips that are often found in hard carried condition. A particularly fine example with great grips from 140 years ago.
