SMITH & WESSON First Model Russian .44 Double Action Revolver


Description:
A very nice First Model Double Action .44 Russian. .44 S&W Russian Cartridge. 4in Barrel. About half the bluing is gone. Some patina .  Barrel is bright with no pitting as are the cylinders. Cylinder face is clean and the recoil shield is very clean. Revolver shows very little signs of a lot of use. All matching numbers even on the grips. Grips are in excellent shape. The adjustable rear sight is not original. The adjustable sight was added after 1887. Hard to find a lot of history. The letter from S&W shows it was shipped in 1885 4 years after introduction. Early serial # 12503. Revolver is very nice considering it is 140 years old. No Russian markings.
