Smith & Wesson New Model 3 Japanese Contract
Description: Antique S&W New model No.3 single action top break revolver chambered in 44 Russian. 6.5" barrel. Finish has turned to a very nice even patina with honest wear. Traces of blue found in protected areas. Grips are walnut (very old period aftermarket) & show 4 notches at the butt. Bore shows strong rifling with traces of fouling. Action works perfectly & timing is correct. Minimal to no cylinder endshake & lock up is tight. Top break extraction functions perfectly. Trigger may have been worked on as it is a slightly lighter pull than what factory new model 3s feel like, which makes this a great target gun. S&W New model 3s were THE premier target shooting revolver of the late 19th century as the 44 Russian was known to be a very accurate cartridge. Serial number matches on butt & extractor latch, cylinder non matching but this is common with New model 3s. This gun comes with a S&W archive letter & notes that this gun was part of the Japanese Government Contract & shipped to Takata & Company.
