Description: SOLD ****** Pending receipt of funds ****** Smith & Wesson model 1905 .38 Special Hand Ejector Military and Police 4th Change .38 S&W caliber Revolver,"K" frame, double action, fluted cylinder, 6 shot, pinned barrel, 6.0 inch barrel, square butt, fixed rear sight notch, blade front sight. Grips are vintage period genuine mother of pearl (aftermarket replacement grips) in excellent condition. No cracks or chips. Original box for the pearl grips is included. The combination of the bright nickel finish on the gun and the mother of pearl grips makes for a very attractive 100 year old gun. The gun also comes with a second set of aftermarket grips which are clear translucent plastic with thin bright metal backing plates behind each grip. The swirl pattern on the metal backing plates can be seen thru the plastic grip. The serial number on the butt of the frame has been covered by the nickel refinish. Remaining numbers on the gun were provided to Smith & Wesson historians. Rear face of cylinder = 308330 Underside of the extractor star on the cylinder = 308330 Flat on the underside of barrel = B 405132 Smith & Wesson historians determined that this is a 4th change gun that was made between 1920 and 1935 with a blue finish. The serial number range for the 4th change is 241,704 - 1,000,000. 4th change guns were produced between 1915 and 1942. A total of 758,296 4th change guns were made. The most likely history on this gun is it started out at the factory in blue finish as serial number 308330 (all numbers matching).
