In like new condition, the Smith & Wesson 19-9 is the current production version of the classic Model 19 Combat Magnum, and is offered in both "Classic" and Performance Center configurations. The "dash-9" designation indicates that this is the ninth engineering change made to the Model 19 platform. Compared to older Model 19s that were discontinued in 1999, the 19-9 features a modern design while retaining a classic look. Reinforced Frame: Modern manufacturing techniques, including the use of MIM (Metal Injection Molding) parts and a two-piece barrel design, have made the 19-9 stronger and more durable for frequent use with .357 Magnum ammunition. Round Butt Frame: To streamline manufacturing, Smith & Wesson transitioned to a round-butt frame on all modern K-frames, including the 19-9. However, the grips on the Classic model are shaped to give the traditional square-butt feel. Frame-Mounted Firing Pin: The firing pin is now mounted on the frame rather than the hammer, a change designed to handle the powerful .357 Magnum recoil. Ball-Detent Lockup: A new ball-detent lockup on the crane provides added rigidity and a tighter cylinder lockup compared to older models. .357 Magnum
