1971 Smith & Wesson Model 36 Chief's Special .38 Spl Revolver in Nickel Finish
Description:
This Smith & Wesson Model 36 Chief's Special is serial number 817J46 and was manufactured in 1971. This particular vintage J-frame has what collectors call the "floating J" serial number with a total of 6 digits including the J that the factory used in 1971 and 1972 only. This Chief's Special is a factory nickel finish gun with the desirable pinned barrel. The original factory nickel finish is still beautiful and shows only very minor handling marks under close examination. The 2" barrel has a perfect mirror-bright bore and the cylinder bores are equally as clean. This Model 36 comes with two sets of grips, the set of factory grips which are on it currently and do not number to the gun, and a set of artificial pearl grips which appear in the last picture. The factory grips that are on it are in excellent condition and do not show any cracks, repairs, or wear. The artificial pearls are equally as nice as the factory grips and in excellent condition. The action on this Chief's Special is in perfect condition and is "in time" perfectly. The action is smooth in double or single action modes of operation and it locks up tight. This Model 36 functions 100% like the day it left the factory. If you have been looking for a really nice and clean nickel Chief's Special for your collection this one would be a great choice.
