SMITH & WESSON SCARCE .44 HAND EJECTOR 2ND MODEL, 6 1/2”, #28XXX, MADE 1926
Description:
SCARCE .44 HAND EJECTOR 2ND MODEL, 6 ½”, #28XXX, MADE 1926. This is a decent revolver that had some poor storage that is apparent on the right side of the barrel. All markings are good on the right side of the barrel, but it had rust that turned to pitting. It may have been stored in a leather holster that got wet on the belt side. It could probably be smoothed out and touched up, but I’ll leave that to whoever buys this one. Aside from that the frame shows good original blue on both sides with normal light wear. The cylinder retains fine blue with light edge wear. Grip straps are mostly gray with good blue on the bottom of the trigger guard and frame. Left side of the barrel has a gray streak from holster wear with good blue on the top. Front sight has not been altered. Still some light case color on the hammer. The action is fine and the bore is bright and excellent. The front face of the cylinder retains most of the blue indicating that this one was fired very little. Grips are the correct style, but are a little oversized at the butt area only and the left grip has an edge chip and repaired crack. The right grip is solid. This 100 year old .44 Special still has a lot of life left in it. These pre-war .44 Specials are getting hard to find in any condition.
