Early Smith and Wesson Model 28 Highway Patrolman No Dash 1959 Very Nice Condition
Description:
Here is a fine example of a Smith and Wesson Model 28, referred to as a Model 28 No Dash and of course the Highway Patrolman. The serial number dates the pistol to 1958 or 1959. A very collectible firearm in really nice shape. This pistol looks to be very well taken care of and carried in a nice holster way more than it was drawn or fired. It has the trigger guard screw indicative of the last models of the no dash line. This is a great one for your collection. The matte blue finish is very smooth and even throughout the length of its 6 and 3/8ths inch standard length barrel and the frame, backstrap butt, etc. I see only about 6 very small spots on the whole pistol where the finish has rubbed away: on both sides of the muzzle, below the cylinder hinge, 2 tiny spots on the sight, and at the end of the ejector rod shroud. Except for the muzzle wear you really have to look at the pistol and turn it over and over to see the other imperfections in the finish. The cylinder turn line is prominant but I would argue not excessive. The forceing cone area and the cylinder shield are are really nice and show very little wear. The hammer has a couple of scratches on it and the point of the heel of the metal part of the grip area has a couple of imperfections in it, perhaps where the holster snap rode. The pistol is a matching number item, up to and including the grips which are the CORRECT number matching Diamond Magna Grips the factory put on it. The grips are quite presentable and nice except for two or three very small doinks and one scratch which hopefully show in the pics.There is also what appears to be a little paint or something on the boottom of the grip, it did not come off with CLP and a light rub. This is a really really nice Model 28 No Dash Highway Patrolman, perhaps one of the nicer ones you will ever find.
