RARE
PRE-21 .44 SPECIAL HAND EJECTOR 4TH MODEL MILITARY (MODEL 1950 .44 MILITARY).
Description: ONE OF THE RAREST OF THE EARLY POST-WAR S&Ws IS THIS PRE-21 .44 SPECIAL HAND EJECTOR 4TH MODEL MILITARY (MODEL 1950 .44 MILITARY). Only about 1200 of these were made between 1950-1957.The serial number on this one is S 142XXX indicating a manufacture date of 1955-early 1956. This example is the earlier 5-screw variation. Sometime in 1956 the top side plate screw was eliminating beginning the 4-screew variant. So, of the 1200 produced, less than that number were of the 5-Screw variety. They were offered in 4", 5" and some 6 1/2" barrel lengths. The few I've seen aside from this one, were 5" and 6 1/2". I believe the 4" was less common than the others. This example has seen little use and retains about all the blue with only a light cylinder line. Even the front face of the cylinder retains about all the blue indicating this one was rarely if ever fired. Fine case colors on the hammer and trigger, matching numbers on the cylinder, butt and barrel.Tight action, bright bore. All markings are sharp and clear. It is fitted with smooth Herrett's grips. Inside the right grip is the original label "A Genuine HERRETT'S Twin Falls, Idaho." One of the more interesting and most difficult to acquire Smiths of the early 1950s. SOLD Curio/Relic: Yes Handgun Caliber: .44 Special Manufacturer: SMITH & WESSON Model: PRE-21 Serial Number: S 142XXX Barrel Length: 4 Condition: EXCELLENT Bore Condition: EXCELLENT |
