S&W Model 1917 DA .45 Military w/British Proofs
Description:
An original S&W Model 1917 that went to Great Britain during WWI and was appropriately proofed by the government there. Revolver has United States Property marking on underside of barrel, and 1917 Marking on butt along with the lanyard ring. Appears all original with some storage nicks on the metal (I remember when Interarms had these piled in 8 foot high piles on the warehouse floor and were shoveling them with a coal shovel into wooden rifle crates - but that was in the 1960's). Bore is minty and so are the chambers. Timing and function is rock solid. Does not look as if it was fired much if at all. Grips also appear to be original. Serial range 1590xx. A nice representative big frame S&W.
