Here Ancestry Guns presents a C&R 4th Model Smith & Wesson .38 Double Action Top Break Revolver, made circa the turn of the century in Springfield, Massachusetts. The Smith & Wesson Fourth Models were produced from 1895 to 1909, and this gun was manufactured around the middle of the production run. Serial numbers for the 4th model ran from 322,701 to 539,300 for a total of approximately 216,600. Differences between the third model and the fourth were doing away with the rocker-type cylinder stop, along with removing the extra cuts in the cylinder.
The overall condition is fine. Original blue finish. The grips are good with little wear to note. The markings are clearly legible and numbers match on the cylinder and frame. The action is excellent in addition to a tight top break latch. Bright, shiny bore and the rifling is sharp.
