Description: SMITH & WESSON .38 S&W Safety HAMMERLESS 5th Model C&R “SNUB NOSE” Revolver PROVENANCE: Dr. Gerald Klaz Collection Here we present a 5th Model Smith & Wesson .38 Double Action Safety Hammerless “Bicycle” Revolver, made circa 1907-1940 in Springfield, Massachusetts. Very scarce in the 2-inch barreled “bicycle” version of the Lemon Squeezer. This smart little revolver is called such because of its handiness on a bike for aggressive dogs and the like, though it was certainly useful for general self-defense, concealed carry, and other, less than savory purposes. This was the Gangster Era after all. This revolver features a grip tang safety and a top-break design that automatically ejected spent brass. Provenance: This revolver is from the collection of Dr. Gerald Klaz. The collection has been carefully curated for over half a century and the result is arguably the best of the best. Items from his illustrious collection can still be found in the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. The overall condition is fine. The action is strong and crisp.
