Here offered is a Pre-War Smith & Wesson .44 Hand Ejector 2nd Model  This model was in production from 1915-1937.  6 1/2”barrels were standard, and most collectors agree that non-standard barrel lengths maybe make up 10% of the models produced.  I have knowingly seen three 5” examples of which this is one. The second one I ever saw is in my collection.  The other one I ever saw was at as S&WCA convention in a display. This comes with a “factory” letter signed by Roy Jinks.  It states that 36221 was shipped to Wirthoff Merchandise Co.  Edna, TX May 13, 1931. This handsome old gent is totally original.  All the numbers match except the grips.  They number to another gun, but they fit like they’ve been on there since Day One.  Judging by the recoil shield and ejector rod, this revolver appears to have been fired only a moderate amount.  It has a fair amount of exterior wear and a goodly number of “dings” but I was proud to have it in my collection until it was replace by one a little bit better.
