Follow our listings to see more items from this amazing collection!*** Manufacturer: Smith and Wesson Model: Registered Magnum Action: DA/SA Revolver Caliber: .357 Magnum Serial: 47003 (REG. 547) Barrel: 6.5 inches Finish: Blue Stock/Grips: Diamond Checkered Walnut with Emblems This is an EXTREMELY RARE Smith and Wesson model Registered Magnum revolver which is considered the HOLY GRAIL item for any Smith and Wesson collection. It is a 6-shot double and single action N-Frame revolver with a square-butt and has 5-screws. It is chambered in .357 Magnum, has a 6.5 inch pinned solid-rib barrel, and a bore that is in excellent condition. Based on the Smith and Wesson Catalog 3rd Edition, 5,224 of these revolvers were made between 1935-1939. This particular revolver was made in 1936. The S&W Factory Letter for this states serial number 47003, registration number 547, was shipped from the factory October 16th 1935. It was sent to Montana Hardware Company in Butte MT. Pics of the pertinent paragraph added to this listing. The Registered Magnum was a built to order firearm that was "registered" to its owner, with a certificate, and featured a specialized, high-polish, and has a hand-fitted construction. This particular revolver has the registration number in the yoke cut and is marked "REG. 547". The yoke cut is also marked "4560", and the yoke is marked “4560”. The butt of the frame, rear of the cylinder, and the ejector rod cut all have the matching serial number "47003". It has a blue finish which has some imperfections. The timing and lock up are perfect based on visual inspection. This was the first S&W revolver to use a counterbored cylinder to protect the cartridge rim. It has a fluted cylinder, a shrouded ejector rod, checkered cylinder release, a checkered hammer, and a serrated trigger. The trigger and hammer have a color case finish. The left side of the frame has a small S&W emblem. The left side of the barrel is marked "SMITH & WESSON". The right side of the barrel is marked "S&W .357 MAGNUM". The right side of the frame is marked "MADE IN U.S.A.". The top of the rib and the top strap are finely checkered. The front sight is a blade with a brass bead that is pinned to a base. The rear sight is a serrated square-notch that is fully adjustable. It has 2-piece diamond checkered walnut grips with silver S&W emblems. The underside of the grips are not marked. The grips are in great shape. The revolver has a removable grip adapter. The front strap and back strap are serrated. A VERY RARE factory box for this model is included along with a screwdriver. The serial number on the underside of the box does not match the serial number of the revolver. This revolver qualifies as a Curio and Relic and can ship where legally allowed.
