This non firing revolver otherwise functions in every way exactly like the original S&W American.

It has the heft and the feel of the American. 

With the first click of the hammer the cylinder is released to spin free.  
When the hammer is pulled to full cock the cylinder locks into batter. 
When the hammer falls the cylinder remains locked until you click the hammer to safety position.  
At that point you release the top barrel latch to break open and the ejector raises as if it were ejecting spent cartridges.
