Here we present a Smith & Wesson Hammerless First Model Double Action Revolver in .32 S&W, manufactured at the turn of the 20th Century in Springfield, Massachusetts. This revolver was made to be a simple, compact and reliable firearm that one could carry in a pocket or a holster around the turn of the 20th Century. This was the first model of the hammerless revolver from Smith & Wesson. The internal hammer design is to remove risk of snagging or stopping the action. The double action only function removes the temptation to cock the hammer into single action. The frame is a top-break design that activates the automatic ejector. These are very nice features from the turn of the 20th Century!
The top of the barrel is marked “SMITH & WESSON SPRINGFIELD, MASS.U.S.A.PAT’D” along with several patent dates.
The overall condition is fine. 75% of the original finish remains. The markings are clear and legible. The grips are in good shape. The bore is clear with strong rifling. The action on this revolver is excellent.
