Engraved and gold inlaid by Tim George, this is the revolver that won the 1997 Smith & Wesson Masterpiece Award for finest engraved Smith & Wesson handgun at the 13TH National Custom Engravers and Gunmakers Exhibition in Reno Nevada.
The 6” barrel has a bright excellent bore. The numbers are matching and the metal surfaces on this superbly-engraved revolver retain about 99% plus engraver-applied deep rich polished blue. The hammer and trigger retain excellent original color case hardening which is muting slightly on the trigger.
The revolver features flawlessly-executed tasteful gold borderline inlays around the periphery of the frame with beautiful dual gold bands at the rear of the barrel and rear of the cylinder. There are simple gold flourishes at the muzzle and breech ring of the frame with exquisite fleur-de-lis’s between each of the cylinder flutes, at bottom of triggerguard and on knuckle of frame. The left and right sides of the frame show exquisite and masterfully executed depictions of Woodcock in-flight, inlaid in gold and delicately engraved. The gun features a Patridge style front sight with inlaid gold triangle and a square-notch rear sight, the sight aperture outlined in gold.
The checkered walnut Beakert style grips rate excellent, they are pencil-numbered to the gun. The revolver comes in a fine Smith & Wesson custom display case with S&W logo on the lid and a red lining. Included with the revolver is the presentation award from the Reno Engravers Custom Engravers Gun Gunmakers Exhibition.
