SMITH & WESSON U.S. Inspected .38 Military & Police Model 1905 Revolver C&R WORLD WAR II FLAMING BOMB Marked Double Action
Description: SMITH & WESSON U.S. Inspected .38 Military & Police Model 1905 Revolver C&R WORLD WAR II FLAMING BOMB Marked Double Action Here we present a C&R U.S. Inspected World War II Era Smith & Wesson .38 Military & Police Model of 1905 Fourth Change Double Action Revolver manufactured circa 1942 in Springfield, Massachusetts. Over the production run of this revolver, there were around 937,000 of these revolvers produced between 1905 and 1942. The “Fourth Change” had a total production of 758,296 between the years of 1915 and 1942. In 1899, the United States Army and Navy placed an order with Smith & Wesson for two to three thousand Model 1899 Hand Ejector revolvers chambered for the .38 Long Colt U.S. Service Cartridge. With this order, the Hand Ejector Model became known as the .38 Military and Police model. These revolvers have survived the test of time, as they are still being produced and called the Model 10. That same year, in response to reports from military sources serving in the Philippines on the relative ineffectiveness of the new cartridge, Smith & Wesson began making the Military & Police in a new chambering, the 38 S&W Special (a.k.a. .38 Special), a slightly elongated version of the .38 Long Colt cartridge with greater bullet weight and powder. This change was implemented after the first 1000 had been produced. This example was inspected by U.S. Ordnance Inspector Colonel Waldemar Broberg, with his initials “W.B.” and the “Flaming Bomb” marked on the Butt of this revolver. The overall condition is very good. Original brown patina. Excellent action. Shiny bright, nicely rifled bore. Both grips are seated firmly and contain average wear. Numbers match. The markings are legible. This firearm is classified as a Curio & Relic. Barrel is 5 inches. Caliber: .38 S&W Special Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING. Will need to be sent to your local FFL or C&R licensee. This firearm is classified as a Curio & Relic. Guaranteed AUTHENTIC & Includes CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY. ancestryguns $1250 #230234 SOLD Curio/Relic: Yes |
