Typically these guns are found in well-worn condition and this gun certainly fits the bill. The metal has a light gray patina with spots of scattered pitting. An “A” can be seen on the lower portion of the frame on the left hand side. A “P” can be seen behind the recoil shield on the left hand side. None of the other martial markings can be seen. This gun is serial number 1434 and is listed in by serial number in The Standard Catalog of Smith & Wesson 4th Edition by Jim Supica and Richard Nahas as being one of the guns from the contract.
