Civil War Era S&W No. 2 Old Army Revolver .32 RF
Description: Serial #15423, .32 RF, 6" octagon barrel with a good bore that has some patches of dark freckling and pitting within the grooves. This is a very nice looking revolver that has matching assembly numbers (".5") on the frame, cylinder, and barrel, with the metal retaining 50-60% of the original blue finish, and the balance faded to a plum-brown patina having pinprick pitting in spots, and some peen marks at the barrel hinge and on the underside of the frame ahead of the trigger. There is a light turn-ring on the cylinder, and traces of muted color case-hardening remains on the hammer. The area around the cylinder pin hole on the barrel has been staked in order to tighten the cylinder fit over time. The rosewood grips are numbered to the gun on the interior, and are in good shape with minor handling marks marring the original varnish on both sides, and a single small chip at the heel of the left panel. The lock-up is relatively tight tight, with some lateral play in the barrel, and the action functions flawlessly. This is a nice S&W No. 2, and is in about very good condition overall.
