Excellent Plus Antique Smith & Wesson Double Action Revolver.. Factory Medallion Ivory Grips. 44 Russian Caliber. Crisp And Tight As New..
Description: SOLD..Excellent plus condition and near mint collector quality antique Smith & Wesson double action revolver. This is a beauty for sure.. S/N 16506 and all matching throughout on the butt, cylinder, barrel and barrel latch.. These were made from 1881 to 1913 and S/N range is 1 through 54668.. This one falls within the antique range.. Also noted all frames were manufactured before 1898 so all of these are considered antique no matter what the S/N is.. Has the standard 6” barrel and is chambered in the very accurate .44 Russian caliber. The finish on this gun is outstanding as you can see.. It is all original including the factory S&W medallion ivory grips.. I would have to rate the over all finish at 98%.. It shows just enough minor wear to show it has absolutely not been re finished.. Just the way you love to find them and the reason I bought it. There is one small spot on the left side of the barrel about mid way down that the nickel is slightly thin as you can see in the photo.. A small spot of flaked nickel turned dark on the right rear of the barrel at the latch area as you can also see.. A few tiny specks on the cylinder as you can see also and some very light wear on the right frame area behind the cylinder. One tiny speck on the left side on the forcing cone shows a little roughness.. The balance is bright and shiny factory nickel finish with a few very minor handling marks.. Very hard to get good photos of these high condition nickel plated guns but I tried to get different angles so you scan see the real condition this gun has.. If you need any more photos please let me know as I want the buyer to see what he is paying for.. The mechanics are excellent as it should be.. Locks up tight as a new gun in single action and double action. No front to rear cylinder movement and no side to side wobble.. This gun is as tight as the day it left the factory, period. .. Rock solid barrel to frame fit at the latch and the barrel hinge.. Half cock and full cock notches are perfect and positive. Extractor works perfectly.. Excellent markings throughout.. The screw heads and take down pins are untouched.. The grips are beautiful as you can see.. The left side shows minor hair line cracks around the medallion as you can see.. Some minor and typical line crazing on the bottoms.. They fit this gun like a glove and have a wonderful patina.. Just an outstanding pair of original ivory grips.. Probably put on by the dealer.. The bore is near mint, bright and shiny with just a few pin head sized spots.. The cylinder chambers are mint with no spots at all. The front of the cylinder still retains all the factory nickel finish.. This gun has been fired I am sure but very little and shows very little carry wear also.. The barrel latch shows some nice bright blue.. The top of the barrel latch pillars or posts are left in bare steel as is correct from the factory.. The trigger has some case colors showing on the sides and the hammer has case colors on the sides also.. The trigger guard has 98% bright factory blue.. About as nice a large frame Smith & Wesson you will find on the open market today.. Very hard to improve on as you can see unless you find one that is flat out mint unfired in the original box and I guarantee you won't buy it for this price !!!! This one is absolutely worth putting in a box if you have one or can find one.. Very hard to find large frame antique western revolvers in this condition.. I like the large frame single actions myself or I would be keeping this one.. Someone please buy this thing before I change my mind..!!!! Call 765-728-8049 for more photos or any questions.. $30 insured shipping.. Don't miss this one !!!! and check back often.. SOLD Antique: Yes |
