This revolver was part of a 86 gun shipment sent to Wexel & DeGress in either New York City or Mexico City on July 5, 1871 (copy of factory letter included). Wexel & DeGress were major suppliers of arms to Porfirio Diaz and his allies. All of the revolvers were shipped without grips, all had 8 inch barrels, and 71 were nickel plated. The lack of grips obviously indicates the retailer or distributor intended to fit their own grips, possibly based on direct customer requests. There are matching "0.0" assembly markings on several components. The barrel has the standard address and patent marking, and the butt has the serial number. Very fine condition. 85% plus of the bright, polished, Original Nickel plating remains. The flaking is concentrated on and near the cylinder. The action is mechanically excellent, and the markings are crisp. A Beautiful "First Model American" with a very Colorful History. $6,950
