Description: This is a beautiful New York Engraved Smith & Wesson Double Action .38 Revolver. Manufactured from 1880 to 1884. This example has an attractive period New York style engraving featuring scrollwork on a punch dot background, zig-zag line/dot motifs, and star bursts covering 90% of the surface. The barrel rib has the two-line address/patent dates marking. Matching serial numbers are found on the butt, cylinder, barrel and barrel latch. This example is in fantastic condition showing 96% nickel finish, 60%+ of the color case hardened finish. The ivory grips are very good condition. Mechanically excellent.
