SMITH AND WESSON #1 .22 CAL. REVOLVER. SERIAL NO. 23402. MANUFACTURED 1862. ORIGINAL BLUE BARREL AND SILVERED BRASS FRAME. GOOD AMOUNT OF ORIGINAL SILVER REMAINS ON FRAME. BLUE HAS DRIFTED TO BLUE-GREY. RIGHT GRIP PANEL HAS PIECE MISSING FROM PERIOD OF USE. HAMMER WILL NOT STAY AT FULL COCK. REVOLVER ONCE BELONGS TO JOHN H. KALER. CO. B 75TH OHIO. MUSTERED IN 3/28/1864 AT 20 YEARS OF AGE. CAPTURED BY REBELS SOMETIME IN 1864 AND SENT TO ANDERSONVILLE PRISON WHERE HE DIED ON 3/8/1865. HE IS BURIED AT GRAVESITE 12746 THERE. A TRAGIC END TO SO MANY LIVES DURING OUR CIVIL WAR. HIS NAME IS SCRATCHED ON LEFT FRAME PANEL. PLEASE CALL 973-214-3407 WITH QUESTIONS. THANKYOU
