Smith and Wesson 38 Single Action in Original Wood Case w/Low Serial Number

Beautiful and rather Minty example of the Smith and Wesson .38 Single Action 2nd Model Revolver in its original wooden case with a nice box of original Winchester cartridges that is still sealed. 3 1/4" Barrel, 5 shot cylinder, nickel finish, with checkered hard rubber grips. After improving the ejection system of the 1st Model 38 SA (aka The Baby Russian given its long ejector housing beneath the barrel), S&W produced a little over 108,000 2nd Models from 1877-1891. This one is probably first year production as it has a low serial number in the 1700 range. All matching numbers on the frame, barrel, cylinder, and latch. Mahogany Case has its original red velvet lining and even has the original key. Overall Condition is Excellent Plus. The original finish is 99.5+% overall with fantastic nickel plating on the barrel, frame, and cylinder. The hammer has strong original case colors while the ejector, latch, trigger, etc still have nearly all of their original blued finish. Nice original early pre-S&W monogram grips with sharp checkered and no chips, cracks, or repairs. This would be difficult to improve upon and the case and the orginal box of shells along with the low serial number make it unique. Mechanics are excellent as it the bore...possibly unfired as there is virtually no nickel loss to the recoil shield or the front face of the cylinder. The original case is in Excellent condition retaining nearly all of its original varnish. I couple of small holes in the red velvetine interior lining, otherwise Very Good. Winchester cartridges have the scarce blue label...usually they are green. Never been opened. 3 loose cartridges and the original key to the box. Antique, Pre-1898. Sold as a Collectors Item Only. No FFL required under Federal Law but state and local laws may vary. No sales to NYC, Chicago, DC, HI, or NJ. Sorry, no international sales. $35.00 shipping. Cartridges must be shipped separately via UPS ORMD.
