There's must be some kind of great story here. The gun is definitely from the Civil War era.
The gun appears to have been originally nickle plated with about 5% remaining.
It subsequently was lightly surface polished. The only flaw is a little patch of pinpricks under the muzzle. At some point someone tried to make it into a carbine by adding a stock. The bottom of the grip and the rear grip strap have been drilled and tapped. This may have partially obliterated some of the serial number.
All parts match. The gun locks up tight and indexes properly. The rosewood grips are awesome. No nicks, splits or dents. They retain about 98% of the original lacquer. The recoil shield and force cone show no use. The chambers likewise.
The bore is gorgeous almost mirror bright. The rifling is crisp and sharp with just a hint of frosting..
Just a great wall hanger or reenactment beauty...The grips alone are worth the price of the gun......$249.
