Smith & Wesson - No. 3, Second Model Russian / Japanese Contract Revolver
Description: A Second Model Russian, with a 7" ribbed barrel with a bright very fine bore. This is an interesting revolver, it was originally a "JAPANESE NAVY CONTRACT" which was then customized during it's "period of use" by a later owner. About 10% + original bright blue remains, the balance has toned to a pleasant dark gray-brown patina... some of the screw heads show light slot wear, the barrel address and patent dates remain crisp and clear and the bottom of the frame is stamped with the "correct" Japanese Naval Anchor. This revolver wears a set of nice antique Pearl Grips, the left smooth panel has a 3" chip at the backstrap. The Pearl grips have a Lovely Opalescence, with scattered age crackling . The lanyard ring is intact, and the serialized parts are matching. Serial Number # 2504. The sights have been modified during the period of use to a blade front and square notch rear, mounted a little further back on the latch. The action functions well mechanically with solid timing and lock-up. A solid Second Model Russian, no doubt with some interesting history. SOLD Antique: Yes |
