Smith & Wesson Second Model Schofield Revolver 1876 Antique
Description: SALE PENDING The Smith & Wesson arms company in Springfield, Massachusetts produced almost 6,000 of these large sidearms for government use between 1876 and 1877. This one is a 2nd Model Schofield, .45 S&W caliber. serial # 3403. Made with a six-shot fluted cylinder and a standard 7” barrel. This gun has a natural patina with flashes of blue in many places, more noticeable in the cylinder flutes but hard to see in the photos. The barrel latch functions properly and the action locks up like a vault. The bore is a little dark but still in decent condition matching the overall condition of the gun. The cylinder and right grip panel are numbered 4303 and in good condition. The extractor functions properly. The overall metal is smooth and not pitted. The 2 piece walnut grips fit very good and have only minor dents and dings on the but. The US appears to have been removed from the but. Dotted initials MK appear faintly marked on the butt. These guns are much more scarce than the Colt SAA of the same period. They are even harder to find in nice condition with the original length barrel. Free, Insured shipping directly to persons over 21 where legal. Previous sale did not go through. A 3 day inspection and return policy is offered providing the gun is returned in the same condition and hasn’t been fired. Please feel free to ask any questions or requests more photos.
