Description:
Nice example of the S&W Model 36 (no dash) Chief's Special. The revolver is a 5 shot chambered in .38 Special with a 1-7/8" bbl. If I searched correctly, this Model 36 (pre J prefix), was mfg right around 1956.
The revolver has seen some use and I will say it is in very good overall condition. There is a few rust specks on the frame (see images) and some wear areas at the end of the bbl and on the cylinder probably from a holster. Nothing negatively glaring. The walnut grips are factory and numbered to the gun with no cracks or chips present. The bore is excellent and is bright with sharp rifeling. The cylinder locks up tight and the timing is spot on. A nice Chief's Special for being near 70 years old.
