SCARCE & FINE Nickel S&W “Ladysmith” .22 Revolver
Description:
SCARCE & FINE Nickel S&W “Ladysmith” .22 Revolver
With Smith & Wesson Mother-of-Pearl Grips
Here we present a Smith & Wesson 2nd Model Ladysmith Revolver in .22 Rimfire Long, made circa 1907 in Springfield, Massachusetts. Only 9,400 were made. This model is significant as it was designed by Daniel B. Wesson himself and because it was the first .22 rimfire since the No. 1 Third Issue’s production ended two decades previously. Like the No. 1, the Ladysmith features 7 shots of .22 rimfire. Unlike the No. 1, the Ladysmith features a swingout cylinder with a star ejector as well as a double action trigger. Though tiny, it features a very usable steel frame and it is no wonder that ladies would have used this revolver for self-defense in the years leading up to the Roaring Twenties. S&W still uses this nomenclature in their marketing of small, concealable revolvers today!
This Smith & Wesson Ladysmith Revolver was finished in nickel with even scarcer, handsome, mother-of-pearl grips inset with the S&W medallion.
The overall condition is fine. The original nickel finish is about 98%. The case colors are still visible on the hammer and trigger. The markings are clear. The serial numbers match. The mother-of-pearl grips are very fine. The bore is clean, bright and sharp. The action is excellent. Here is a fantastic example of a scarce and highly desirable Smith & Wesson Revolver!
This firearm is classified as a Curio & Relic.
Barrel is 3 inches.
Caliber: .22 Rimfire Long
Overall condition as seen in photos.
